Subject: Important Information regarding Workday Project Timeline
Sender: Bill Gilligan, Vice President of Information Technology
Receiver: Emerson Faculty & Staff
I am writing to share an update regarding the College’s plans for Workday, initially scheduled to go live on January 1, 2019 for Payroll and Human Resources.
The teams working on the implementation have made very important progress and have achieved major milestones. However, after careful consideration, the Workday Steering Committee reached consensus this week that more time is needed to deliver the most accurate and functional Workday experience to the Emerson community.
After conferring with key stakeholders, the steering committee has recast the timeline for HR and Payroll functions to go live concurrently with Workday Finance, which is already planned July 1, 2019. This adjustment aligns with the start of a new academic and fiscal calendar year and will allow for time to assure accurate data and adequate training for staff, faculty and student employees. From January through June 2019, the College will continue to use Banner and PeopleAdmin, the systems currently in use.
Our primary focus has always been to deliver a high-quality system that supports the College’s business functions of HR, Payroll and Finance. In the weeks ahead, we will work to revise the project plan and share updates with the community as we move forward.
Thank you and best wishes for the holiday season and fun and/or restful winter break.
