Create Job Requisition - Faculty

Overview of Job Requisitions

A job requisition is the start of the recruitment process. Follow the steps to initiate a job requisition and understand their approval process.

Instructions

  1. Select the Recruiting application on your Workday homepage.

  2. From "Actions" Select Create Job Requisition.

  3. Fill out the following fields:

    1. Copy Details from Existing Requisition: Will allow you to pre-populate this requisition with the information from one previously created. This is optional.

    2. Supervisory Organization: Enter the department or team where the position will sit. You may also enter the name of the manager of the position.

    3. Position options:

      1. Create New Position: Select if the position does not currently exist.

      2. For Existing Position: Search for and select a position if it is being backfilled, or if it has already been created

      3. None of the Above (If available): Skip this step.

    4. Worker Type: Employee or Contingent Worker.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Recruiting Information: Click into the form to fill out the following fields:

    1. Number of Openings (Only available if creating a new position): Enter the number of positions to be created.

    2. Reason: Select the appropriate reason for creating the requisition.

    3. Spotlight Job: Check if appropriate.

    4. Replacement For: Search for and select the employee being replaced, if applicable.

    5. Recruiting Start Date: Enter when recruiting can begin for the requisition.

    6. Target Hire Date: Enter the desired date that this position will be filled.

    7. Target End Date: Enter when recruiting is expected to end for this requisition. Required for the following worker sub-types: Fixed Term & Temporary.

    8. Click Next.

  6. Job Details: Click into the form and fill out the following fields:

    1. Job Posting Title: The business title of the position. This will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    2. Justification: Enter justification for the requisition and position as needed.

    3. Job Profile: Search for and select the job profile which will correspond to the position. This will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    4. Additional Job Profiles: Select as needed.

    5. Job Description Summary: Enter as needed.

    6. Job Description: The description that will appear on the college’s internal and external career sites.

    7. Additional Job Description: Enter as needed. Will pre-populate if created with the position, but it is editable. 

    8. Worker Sub-Type: Select the type, depending on the position and job profile chosen. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    9. Time Type: Full time or Part time. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    10. Primary Location: Select the Emerson location of the position. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    11. Primary Job Posting Location: Will default from Primary Location indicated.

    12. Questionnaires: Click into the form to add or modify as necessary

      1. Fill out or modify any remaining fields.

      2. Click Next.

  7. Organizations: Click into the fields to fill out as required:

    1. Cost Center: Search for and select the cost center for the position. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    2. Costing: Indicate as required for the position. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable

    3. Other organization types: Indicate as required for the position. Position Type is required. Will pre-populate if the position already exists, but it is editable.

    4. Click Next.

  8. Compensation: Fill in appropriate compensation for the position. Indicate a Salary or Hourly Pay for the position, depending on what is appropriate.

  9. Click Next.

  10. Review the details of the requisition. Click Submit.

What Happens Next?

Requisitions for staff and students will route to HR for review and approval. Requisitions for faculty will route to Academic Affairs for review and approval. If you are creating a position with the requisition, the requisition will route to HR for additional review and approvals.
