Create Staff Application - External

We have provided step-by-step instructions to submit a staff application successfully. Alternatively, you can watch a video on how to apply. 

Current members of our community who are interested in advancing their careers should click on the career icon after logging into their Workday account. If you are an internal candidate, please follow the internal candidate instructions.

Instructions for Completing an Application

  1. Before beginning, ensure you have reviewed the job description, and that your experience meets the skills required.

    • Prepare a cover letter that speaks to your passion and further details the experiences which will make you successful in the position.

    • Ensure your resume is accurate and demonstrates your past experience

  2. Access the Workday applicant portal: Emerson Staff External Postings

    • If you are an internal candidate please log into your Workday account and click "Careers" 

  3. Log in to your candidate profile with your email address and password. If you don’t have a profile, click the “Create Account” button to get started

    • If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Password" button. You’ll receive an email to reset your password.

  4. Quick Apply (Optional): Allows drag and drop of the resume so the system will read it and sort the information into the correct fields. Please scan the information carefully to ensure all information was parsed into the correct fields.

  5. Submit to start your application.

  6. First, enter your contact information and click "Next."

    • Confirm your legal name and add your preferred name if applicable.

    • Add your phone number, zip code, how you heard of this opening, and if you’ve been previously employed with Emerson College either as a staff, faculty, or student. 

  7. Next, enter your experience. If you used Quick Apply, the system will have attempted to interpret the information in your resume by reading the title, company, dates of employment at that company, and position details.

    • You may need to correct some of the fields, so scan them carefully.

    • Add or remove sections as needed.

  8. Enter your education after you finish entering your professional experience. Continue to the languages section, if applicable.

  9. The resume/CV section should already show your resume attached if you used Quick Apply. Please upload your Cover Letter and other applicable documents/files here.

  10. There is also the opportunity to link to your website and LinkedIn profile as well, which is encouraged.

  11. Answer the Application Questions, and then click "Next" to go to the Self-Disclosure section, which includes a consent form for Emerson College’s Terms and Conditions.

  12. Continue with the Self Identify portion of the application and when complete, click "Next."

  13. Please review the information you’ve submitted to ensure its accuracy and then submit.

  14. You will receive a pop-up confirming you submitted your application

  15. Feel free to visit the Emerson College Careers page, in the future from which you will be able to return to your profile. 

What Happens Next?

Your application will reach our hiring team for review. Should your professional experience match the qualifications of the position, the College will be in touch. If not, you will receive a decline notification via email when the hiring team has completed reviewing applications.

Please note: We allow postings to gather applications for roughly a month prior to reviewing applicants, and we receive many qualified applications with the preferred skills and experience.
