Employees who are leaving Emerson should be aware of how their departure affects their benefits. Employees must be enrolled in benefits at the time of their termination.
To submit your resignation, please view our Workday Instruction Guide.
Medical and Dental Coverage
Medical and dental coverage ends on the last day of the month of the employment termination date. Employees become eligible for COBRA coverage on the first day of the following month. See COBRA Information and Rates for more information. Within a few weeks of the termination date, a departing employee should receive a COBRA package from WageWorks (the COBRA administrator), mailed to the home address in Workday.
Flexible Spending Accounts
For employees enrolled with a Flexible Spending Account (healthcare or dependent care), the coverage ends on the date of termination. Only claims for services incurred prior to the date of termination are eligible for reimbursement. Employees have 90 days from the date of termination to submit claims. Healthcare FSA can be continued through COBRA with WageWorks. This will be included in the COBRA package if eligible.
For any questions about your FSA, contact WageWorks at 877-924-3967.
Life and Accidental Death & Disability Insurance
Life Insurance, Accidental Death, and Long-Term Disability coverage end on the date of termination. Employees may be eligible to convert Emerson’s Life Insurance to an individual policy. For more information, please submit a ticket to HR.
Contributions to the retirement (403b) plan end on the date of termination. Employees will receive a letter from Transamerica following the termination with more information.
Subsidized Parking & Transit
Since most parking and transit benefits are based on monthly orders, the benefits end the last day of the termination month.
All other benefits, such as the Employee Assistance Program, end on the termination date.
Unemployment Insurance (UI) is a temporary income assistance program for Massachusetts workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own, and are:
