Reasonable Accommodations

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Emerson College provides reasonable accommodations to staff and faculty members with disabilities to enable them to perform the essential functions or duties of their position.

  • Human Resources has the primary responsibility for reviewing reasonable accommodation requests and overseeing the interactive process with employees and their supervisors.

  • Each situation is different and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. 

  • It is the responsibility of the individual requesting the accommodation to provide sufficient information, upon request, to support the need for the requested accommodation.

  • As part of the interactive process, Human Resources may contact the appropriate supervisor or departmental official(s) for the purposes of discussing possible accommodations.
