Get to Know the Emerson Lingo!

Beginning work at a new place is hard enough.  Feeling like people are speaking a different language shouldn't add to that.  Here is a list of commonly used "lingo".  

  • 2B - 2 Boylston Place, a residence hall
  • 20PP - 20 Park Plaza
  • Archives (ECASC) - Record management; archives and special collections
  • Beard Room - The ‘New’ Beard Room on the 2nd floor of 150 Boylston
  • Bordy - The Bill Bordy Theater, located 1st floor, 216 Tremont Street
  • CITL - Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning
  • CoLab -  Flexible event space in the middle of the library with movable furniture and writable walls
  • CSD - Communication Sciences & Disorders
  • C-Tag - Inventory sticker on computer or monitor that starts with C, useful to report to IT for troubleshooting
  • DH or DC - Dining Hall or Dining Center
  • ECCash - Money on your ID card that can be used on and off-campus
  • EDC - Equipment Distribution Center
  • GPD - Graduate Program Director
  • ITG vs. IT - Instructional Technology Group vs. Information Technology
  • JPC - Journalism Production Center
  • LB - Little Building, 80 Boylston Street, a residence hall
  • MPR - Multipurpose Room - 172 Tremont 
  • MTP - Media Technologies and Production
  • ORCS - Office of Research & Creative Scholarship - for faculty grants/fellowships
  • PRow - 150 Boylston Street, a residence hall and home to the Fitness Center
  • SEAL - Student Engagement and Leadership
  • Spacebook - Also known as EMS - used to reserve spaces on campus
  • UBank - 216 Tremont Street, also known as Union Bank Building & sometimes “The Bordy Building”
  • VMA - Visual Media Arts
  • WARC - Writing & Academic Resource Center
  • WLP - Writing, Literature & Publishing
