A new job means new logins, new systems, and lots of setup. Figuring out what technology is used when and for what can be time-consuming. We’ve put together this list to get you off to the right start.
One of your greatest resources for information and support at Emerson is our IT User Services/Help Desk team! Be sure to bookmark support.emerson.edu as you will visit it often.

Depending on your role, you may use other technologies. Ask your manager and team members for specifics.
Gmail and Google Suite
Emerson uses Gmail as our email platform and Google Suite tools to help you be successful.
Access your FREE LinkedIn Learning account with your Emerson credentials. Here are some courses for the Google Suite tools. Don’t be afraid of the length of time it shows. When you go into a course, use the table of contents to select the segments that you need based on your skill level.
-
Gmail - some of my favorite snips from the course!
- Snooze an email and other shortcuts
- Create filters to automatically sort emails
- Create an email template (if you have an email you send over and over and over!)
-
Google Calendar - key ways to let the tool do the communicating!
- Set work location and hours
- View an invitee’s availability to schedule a meeting time - help prevent the back-and-forth emailing about a time!
- Google Drive and Shared Drives - access files anywhere and never say “oh that’s on my desktop” ever again!
Happy technology-ing :)
